Hello everyone! Today I am releasing a couple of videos, and the blog post will be fairly short. Most of the content in the video has been covered in more depth in other posts which I will list below, so I won’t repeat myself here.<\/p>\n

The first video is an exploration of doing the Distress Oxide resist technique on colored cardstock. The takeaway from this experiment is that colored cardstock seems to have a coating on it, and the Distress Oxide sprays and the regular Distress spray stains do not absorb into the cardstock as well as the white cardstock. I also demonstrate how to use Zig glue on the back of a cutout for use as a stencil, but you can see I did not wait long enough so the glue did get onto my project in a couple of places.<\/p>\n

I also showed the results of using several cracking mediums on Yupo paper, and how the crackle paste seems to flake off the most, but the Distress Collage Medium crazing version (now retired sadly!) did not.<\/p>\n

I reminded y’all that even though so many of my videos show using different mediums on Yupo, the medium it was designed for- alcohol ink- works great too, haha. I also showed how Yupo paper will stick to itself with just water on the back. I showed how I took a Yupo paper cutout spritzed with water to adhere to a background piece of Yupo paper, and colored the whole thing with alcohol ink. I could leave it layered or peel the cutout off and the design is left behind.<\/p>\n

Yupo on Yupo with Alcohol Ink 2The second videos is also a reminder on different ideas you can do with Yupo paper cutouts, the last one being the idea for the video. I had used a previously created card front in Photoshop and printed it out. I wanted to emboss that design to punch it up a bit, but it was printed and the cutout needed to go underneath the printout in order to emboss. That would be virtually impossible to line up the cutout with the matching printed design (short of doing a lot of measuring and math \ud83d\ude1b ). So, what I ultimately came up with was printing the piece twice and lining the cutout on top of one of
\nthe printouts, and then layering the second printout on top of that. I ran that sandwich through my Sizzix Big Shot and it embossed great!<\/p>\n

Yupo Embossing on Printed Paper Line Up 2Also, I showed some other Yupo paper ideas including using molding paste around a mask on store bought printed paper and then coloring that with Distress Sprays.<\/p>\n
