Tim Holtz Distress Oxide and regular Distress sprays through a handmade stencil…<\/p>\n

Hello all!! I’ve been off learning jewelry making, and my poor blog has been ignored while I’ve been metalsmithing, making glass and ceramic pendants etc. But the past couple of weeks, I took a break and did some paper crafting. It was so relaxing and fun to go back to my old creative outlet! Lately I’ve gotten some comments on one of my youTube videos (see the related blog post here<\/a>), most of it super nice although there was one snarky comment- can’t please everyone I guess ;). I responded to a couple of questions and mentioned that I use my stencils for lots of different things. One of which I was playing with for some cards this very week. So, since I was working with a handmade stencil similar to the one I used in that video, I decide to finally do a post showing some card fronts I just made with that new stencil.<\/p>\n

I use Dass Art’s Stone paper (see it here<\/a>) because it cuts like a dream on the Silhouette with my detailed designs. I never can get regular cardstock or stencil material to cut well with most of my designs unless they are more basic. So in this case I was cutting feathers. I cut a bunch just to use as embellishments, but one corner of the paper I set the feathers up in a group to be used as a stencil. I wanted to play around with the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide and regular Distress sprays. Here is the stencil- after some use \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

After I sprayed through the stencil with some different colors of Distress sprays and Distress Oxide sprays, I carefully lifted the stencil. The top of the stencil now had a bunch of ink, so I laid that down onto a different place on my work surface and took a plain white card front and placed it on top of the stencil with the leftover spray ink. I rubbed the back of the card stock in order to transfer as much of the ink onto the paper. Basically what I was left with was the reverse…<\/p>\n

I took it a step further and scanned the image into photoshop and combined it with some other backgrounds using different blend modes, and ended up with this result (as the full card)…<\/p>\n

Finally I decided to add some glitter spray and traced some details into the feathers with a gelly roll stardust pen…<\/p>\n

Unfortunately I couldn’t get a good closeup showing the shimmer. But it was nice and sparkly \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
