I’ve been wanting to try this for so long but finally did it the other day when my transfers didn’t work (again). I had painted Tim Holtz grit paste into card stock and then used the DASS.com system (classic film and Super Sauce) to transfer. I can transfer successfully onto just a painted card, for instance a Gelli Plate print, but I usually get smearing and missed sections when transferring into acrylic mediums. So I decided to go a different route.<\/p>\n

I painted a piece of Yupo paper with 4 different acrylic mediums- self leveling gel, Tim Holtz grit paste, Tim Holtz Crazing medium, and Ranger Crackle paste. I used Yupo paper so it wouldn’t warp due to the water content in the mediums. Also I was hoping that the self leveling gel would peel up so I could test making a printable skin. When the mediums were dry I painted two coats of inkAID on top as described in their directions. After letting that dry, I printed using my Epson 3880 printer which used pigment inks (I’m not sure if that matters). It was a success! And I was able to peel the skin off the Yupo paper. That was a little tricky though. I didn’t film this, but will do so in a future post when I get a chance. Here are some pictures of the end results…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I didn’t love the image on the Ranger Crackle Medium because I had too many brush strokes in it. Then I tried to sand it, and it took some of the print away even though I was trying to use a light hand. This was a fun experiment and I will try it again, and then I will try to film it.<\/p>\n
