Window Cling Film as Stencil with Distress Inks

Window Cling Film as Stencil with Distress Sprays

Hello my Friends! Today’s experiment  is trying to utilize a material I bought that didn’t worked out for my original intention. You would use it normally to stick on your windows,
instead of having a shade or curtains, and it blocks the light and vision through your windows. My original plan was trying to find rice paper with sticky back already on it. However, this material was plastic-y. It’s almost like contact paper. If you peel off the backing, it sort of looks like rice paper, but it doesn’t work anything like rice paper. So I now had this roll and I was like, “what am I going to do with it”? I could use alcohol ink on it, but I don’t do a ton with alcohol ink. So I thought, What if I cut it and made stencils and masks?

So today’s experiment I cut the contact paper using a Tim Holtz die, that when cut, makes a stencil.

I tried initially with plain card stock, but the contact paper stuck and peeled that paper. So I want to give a shot with Tim Holtz’s Kraft heavyweight, and that worked much better, I showed the experiment using one of my favorite color combinations- Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide on Kraft Heavyweight cardstock, with Brushed Corduroy Distress Spray Stains over the top and a few drips of Distress Oxide Spray in Spun Sugar.

I went a little overboard with the Brushed Corduroy Distress Spray Stains- this spray stain over Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide on Kraft Heavyweight cardstock will turn the pink color to blue. Normally I try to leave some of the pink color as well as the blue, but I covered the whole thing so it all turned blue.

I also showed using the stencil with ink pads at the end to tweak a result that was not very good after using the sprays.

I planned on using this paper with a digital cutter to see if I could get it to cut, however 2 years later and I still haven’t tried it! I’ll add it to the list for 2025 😉If I can find it after I reorganized 😂

Enjoy!
