Hi all! I started a series of experiments on stamping foam 2 years ago, and never worked on the videos. So I’m trying to get through as many as I can now 😉
Today’s attempt was using stencils. I used a store bought one from Tim Holtz/Stamper’s Anonymous and then one that I made myself. I made the stencil by cutting 2 layers of Yupo paper on my digital cutter, and gluing them together to make them a little bit thicker. You’ll see that I got a better imprint with the double layer rather than the store bought one (and 3 layers would be even better).
So if you have that option that would be the way to go.
I decided to utilize a piece of soft craft foam to lay the stencil on and press the stamping foam (after it was heated up) on top of the stencil. The craft foam is soft ( and this particular version is thick) so it gave a good impression as well as imparting some texture.
Stamping Foam with Stencils Stamp 2I inked the stamps with Distress Oxide ink and showed how to soften/clean up some of the ink pad remnants on the foam stamped. Then I stamped the images and sprayed over the top with some Distress spray stains. I liked them both, but I think the double layer stencil came out a bit better.
If you have this stamp foam, it gives you a different look rather than using you stencils the more traditional way. Give it a try!
Enjoy!
