Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so thankful to still have my parents around. They are doing well in their new home, and I got to visit them last week. While there my Mom and I were stamping and I tried to show her a technique, but she didn’t have the suplly I needed. So we improvised, and it worked! I wanted to show her the trick of stamping on tissue paper and then using gel medium or the like to adhere it over patterned paper, so that the paper underneath showed through. My Mom didn;t have much in the way of acrylic mediums, but she had Scotch Glue, the kind that dries clear. I know some folks swear by Elmers for all things creative, so I decided to give it a try, and it worked fine!

I stamped the Turkey in black on white tissue paper. Then I took a piece of card stock that we had printed using the Gelli Arts printing plate, and I painted some glue on top. I laid the stamped tissue down on top, and smoothed it a bit. The glue dried clear and the monoprinted showed through the tissue. Then I watercolored on top, and Voila! Thanksgiving Turkey print!!

Thanks Mom! and thanks Dad for putting up with all the creativity talk ;-).

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!
